Problem Notification & Solutions to GL-X3000/GL-X2000 fail work with EE SIM Card

Dear GL.iNet Customers:

Recently we noticed that some customer come across failure problems on GL-X3000/GL-X2000 when working with EE SIM card. After the further troubleshooting, we found that some EE SIM card can only work with the IPv4 protocol type. While the default settings on GL.iNet Cellular routers are IPv4&IPv6 together, causing this issue.

Solutions & Workarounds

We shall release the new firmware soon, later this month, to modify the default protocol type to IPv4 to fix this issue. Customers who want to use IPv6 protocol type can still mofidy the settings back to IPv4&IPv6 in the admin panel.

As for GL-X3000/GL-XE3000, the SDK v4.8 firmware has already contained this fix. You can download and upgrade it by manual in this link: GL.iNet download center

Here's another workaround if you have other models or do not want to take the beta upgrade. You can start up the cellular connection and then run the following AT commands one by one:

AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","User_APN"
AT+CFUN=0
AT+CFUN=1

Note: User_APN is the APN name of your EE SIM card, "everywhere" generally. You shall make it every time you restart the router.

If any further problems, please feel free to reach us at [email protected]

Sincerely,
