Hello,

I managed to get my DHCP sorted thanx to awesome people here in the forums.
Now I need help with the vpn.
My protonmail only seems to download openvpn config files, but i need zip for wireguard.

I can get open vpn to work fine, but this goes to a max of 30megs

Ya, managed to do it from my phone. Really cool actually. Say you downloaded 2 config files from pc, but your using your phone. There is a feature where you can choose config files between pc and phone. Naturally you can store these config files via phone and gain access to them from pc. Because it’s cloud based you can access any stored files and switch between these platforms
I will be looking into local storage via home assistant but for now this is a great feature to have. The other thing I would like to look into is tunnelling

I believe this has just been introduced but will help a lot because my TV is being affected by the VPN. Sure, I could have the VPN installed on the android TV and may need to choose exact VPN protocol but it’s troublesome and tunnelling is far more easier

Wireguard VPN Tunneling

Interesting...

Turns out Protonmail recently added Split Tunneling
This may come in handy should your Android TV not work correctly because your wireguard's VPN config file is addressed to all devices on your network

Method 1 - Android TV

  • Open protonmail app on your android tv and go to settings > split tunneling
  • Select Split tunneling > Select Mode > Select wireguard > and choose what apps you would like to be included or excluded from the VPN
  • Once done click reconnect and your android TV should not have any VPN assigned to it

Method 2 - Desktop or Laptop

  • Open Protonmail VPN
  • Hamburger menu > Settings > Advanced > scroll down to the bottom and select 'Split Tunneling'
  • Select 'Exclude apps/Ips from using VPN tunnel' and to the right side there will be an option to manually enter in your android tv's IP address. Enter this in and click on the + button
  • Restart the VPN and your good to go

You can just do the same using the VPN policies included in the VPN Dashboard.
