Hi everyone, I have a Puli GL-XE300 with an an EC25 (Cat 4) module and would like to upgrade to the "Quectel RG255C-GL" (5G capable) module, which supports 5G. Would it out of the box work or do I need to install drivers via SSH? Someone already did this? It doesn´t require additional antennas either, since it has 2 antenna connectors (1T2R & 1T1R) and a GNSS: × 1 for GPS, which isn´t used anyways. Thank you!
To integrate a new cellular modem will need significant developing and validation work, also need certification cost. We didn't integrate this modem now.
RG255C-GL is a 5G Redcap modem, the download speed is not much higher than CAT4/CAT6 modem, and it relies on the local operator has upgrated the system to support Release17. Can I ask a question that why you need a Redcap modem?
Thank you for your quick reply. As I understand, even if I install the new 5G modem, I can´t make it work because intensive OS configuration would be needed from my side, right?
To your question regarding Redcap: I don´t really need Redcap. All I´m looking for is 5G for lower latencies. Speedwise CAT6 speed is perfectly fine. Guess I´ll update to "EP06" CAT6 modem then instead.
In case I´d swap my module with a "RG255C Mini PCIe 5G RedCap module", would it work out of the box? OR do I need to do a lot of software "hacking"?
