Can I remove the battery from GL-XE300 Puli easily? I know it can run full time on AC even with the battery in, but I want to plug it into a timer for periodic resets, and the battery will interfere with that.
I know I could also use Spitz or another 4G router with no battery, but I need a 4G router with the lowest power consumption so it can stay on an APC backup longer during a power outage. The Puli is under 4.5W according to the specs, but the Spitz is 6W. In this case every 1W matters for the number of hours it will stay on APC. The Puli seems to be the lowest of the bunch.
Yes I'm aware of the software restart option. I would much prefer a physical timer restart as I find it to be more reliable in the long run. I was hoping the battery was easily removable because I remember years ago this same router model was also offered in a version without the battery. I also know the battery is reachable because I've previously opened this router for the modem replacement, I just don't know if it's possible to disconnect it.
Cronjobs are perfectly reliable as long as you keep in mind they exist.
There is even an option for automatic reboot in the UI Scheduled Tasks - GL.iNet Router Docs 4
my issue aside, is that a fact it's not replaceable?? This is not a cheap router, and I find it strange the entire router would need replacing once the battery degrades, which under heavy use can be expected in 2-3 years.
