Repeater Mode - WiFi Channel

Just after confirmation here.

When using my Beryl AX in Repeater mode but NOT to extend a network, in AP (so its own DHCP, subnet, gateway), is the WiFi channel still locked to that of the upstream host network?

Ive attempted to change it but it always goes back to whatever the host is on after booting or changing.

Is this a limitation of the number of radios and so on? Is it an idea to reduce interference to connect on say 5GHz and clients on 2.4ghz using the other radio?

Or am i doing something wrong and that above setup should be able to use independent channels?

(Im aware extender mode cant).

Are you asking if the repeater mode on your Beryl AX needs to maintain a lock on the same upstream AP's channel so one its radios can then... repeat?

FYI: 2.4GHz generally has better signal penetration than 5 or 6GHz. It's common to use the 2.4GHz radio as the uplink to the the upstream then have your client devices use the repeater's 5GHz. YMMV.

Repeater and extender of sub-router must be the same as the primary-router AP/WiFi channel.

That's what I was after. Thanks.
