I’m planning to replace the PiKVM v4 Plus with the Comet PoE (GL-RM1PE) for improved integration and performance.

My use case requires hiding or anonymizing the KVM device (USB and HDMI) from enterprise detection mechanisms on the endpoint. On PiKVM, this involved:

**•	USB device spoofing via** usb-gadget.conf

**•	EDID masking for HDMI**

**•	Behavioral/hardware evasion to bypass corporate USB policies**

:red_question_mark: My questions:

1\. Does the Comet PoE support USB gadget customization? (e.g., spoofing VID/PID, manufacturer string, HID profile)

2\. Is HDMI EDID override supported or configurable?

3\. Any recommended practices for masking or disguising the Comet’s presence from host OS/device management tools (e.g., Microsoft Defender for Endpoint)?

4\. Does GL.iNet support firmware-level customization or provide SDK access for advanced use cases like this?

Thanks in advance. Looking forward to hearing if others have used Comet devices in similar enterprise-managed environments.

Yes, Comet PoE can use costmized EDID and change Device identity.

WOW. At my employer, anyone caught violating IT policy doing something similar would be immediately terminated and possibly have charges filed against them.

Posting in a public forum gave them intent and your access to the equipment is opportunity. All they need now is motive.
