I have a GL Spitz X3000 modem router. My provider is Iliad, but the connection keeps dropping because they have some 5G BTSs in NSA, others in 4G+, but they often roam with the Wind provider. I would like to know how to enable lock tower on the BTS with the best signal among those I find when I scan with Lock Tower. I find the BTS with the best signal in the list and perform the lock tower, but then the SIM card doesn't connect to the network and I have to restart the GL X3000 to reconnect to the network. When I restart it, it automatically reconnects with the first BTS. But if I reconnect with the BTS with alternating signal, the connection starts dropping again. My firmware version is: 0704release5
Hi,
the tower list displays surrounding cell towers, including BTSs from other operators. Please ensure it is locked to the Iliad cell tower. See here for detailed Setup.
Also, pls verify if the APN setting is correct.
So if I understand correctly, I need to proceed as follows:
1 - check the APN (and ILIAD is correct).
2 - scan the BTS towers and choose the best one, the one from the provider (not those of other providers that use roaming). For example, the best ones listed, in addition to other providers
(Wind, LINKEM, TIM FASTWEB, etc., etc.) with the best signal are: Iliad 157D8312C with n78 217 written underneath and NR5G on the right.
The other BTS is 222-99 157D8312C with n78 217 written underneath, and on the right there is also the rectangle with NR5G written inside (note that 222 is the ILIAD provider). I click on the rectangle to the right of the first BTS tower, which is Iliad 157D8312C, and block the tower. But then the connection with the SIM card does not connect. At this point, perhaps I should go to the router menus in the following path? INTERNET - view more - cell information - manual configuration - Cellular settings, scroll down the drop-down menu to ADVANCED - enable band masking - at this point, is it correct to click and check Block and not Open? Then which of the LTE Bands - 5G NSA Bands and 5G SA bands should I select? (I think on 5G NSA band because iliad does not yet have the SA system but NSA). Then you need to click on band n78. Is this the correct procedure? Unfortunately, from the "Manual configuration" step onwards, I did not understand whether to enable masking and whether to enable Block or Open and everything else I listed.
Correct. Check APN and select the cell tower for ILIAD.
The sim card is not registered to network after locking to the cell tower, it might be due to the limitation of the cell tower.
For your situation, you can lock to other cell tower for ILIAD.
Or remove the tower locking and enable the Band Masking. Set the Masking mode to "Block", select the cell bands that frequently cause disconnections. This will connect router to other bands. See if it will help.
OK. I checked the APN and unfortunately for the Iliad provider, only "iliad" is listed, so it's not a problem with the incorrect APN.
I scanned the towers and saw that there are two towers with maximum signal, and they are listed: Iliad n78 217 NR5G and the other 222-99 n78 217 NR5G. I blocked the band masking in LTE and selected them all. In 5G SA, I selected all except n78, and in 5G NSA, all except n78. Then I locked the Iliad n78 217 NR5G tower. You can see it in the settings where the signal values are detailed, but it remains connected... card not registered. Then I changed to blocking the 222-99 n78 217 NR5g tower, but it's the same thing. Then I tried not to do the tower lock but leaving the band masking, and nothing happened; and finally, by not doing the tower lock, I left only the n28 and n78 bands in both 5GSA and 5GNSA, and unfortunately nothing happened. Then finally, I enabled all 5GSA and all 5GNSA bands, leaving all the LTE bands blocked and without doing any tower lock, but nothing happens, always the same connection... SIM card not registered. I don't know what to do.
Can the SIM card connect to the network or connect to 5G without band locking/tower locking?
Perhaps the 5G network nearby was unavailable, so the router failed to connect to the network after being locked. Can you share your device with GL.iNet for a remote check?
