RM10 - KVM Unstable With Dual Screen Usage

I realize this might be a niche use case, but I am using my RM10 with two screens.

  1. Physical screen plugged into my laptop’s USB-C/DP port
  2. HDMI out into RM10

This allows me to control my laptop from my desktop PC’s browser. When switching mouse mode to absolute so the mouse cursor is ‘captured’, I can move the mouse over to the physical screen from the ‘in-browser’ screen.

However, when doing so, the RM10 becomes very unstable after a while. HDMI drops out, unexpected restarts of the RM10, etc.

Unplugging the physical screen, the RM10 goes back to stable with none of these behaviors.

Is this a known issue? Do two screens require too much processing?

Have you updated to the lastest version of RM10? Can you send me logs of kvm? Logs would tell us what happened.

Maybe

Would you used the adapter we provided for power supply?

I am on V1.8.0 beta2

I reset the unit a couple of times since those issues occurred, and dmesg reset. I can’t see anything helpful in those logs.

I use that laptop for work so am unable to keep triggering those crashes. I’ve unplugged the KVM for now.

No, I am using a 25W USB-C power adapter

Can you try using built-in power supply?

the concept seems interesting, I'd like to understand how it works a little more. I have a need to control my laptop from my desktop and being able to use a extended screen of sorts to do it would be preferable

Same issue. Not surprising I guess, given that it provides less power than my USB-C charger.
