RM10 WiFi Static IP & Mic

and the 2FA for login is great as a second layer of security.

FYI, I didn’t return my RM10—I kept testing it. This is my third GL.iNet device, and overall I like GL.iNet products.

For the RM10, both Tailscale and direct connections work well. I didn’t have to open any additional ports on my firewall/router except the standard Web UI port.

The local network experience is very smooth, but remote access to the device is a bit slow unless there’s high‑speed internet.

A wired LAN connection works better than Wi‑Fi for me because the device isn’t close to the Wi‑Fi router. I get about 500–600 Mbps using a cable connection.

One great thing is that I’m still able to remote‑control my computer (using Direct mode) while at the office. The office has a very strict network policy, so WebRTC isn’t an option.

However, I’ve noticed the following issues:

  1. I can’t connect to the GL.iNet KVM Cloud no matter of CN or Overseas kvm cloud. It is good to have but this isn’t a must for me as long as I can connect via Tailscale and direct port. So it is not a problem.

  2. After 1–2 days of idle time, i get no streaming (it reports no HDMI connected) even though the laptop is on and not in sleep mode. I need to open the lid for streaming to resume, so i’m not sure whether it is the problem of my laptop or rm10.

I’ll do more testing on the RM10 for issue #2.

Tried again and bound this time with no problem.

Issue fixed for me. Thank You for the timely assistance!
