I purchased the GL-AX1800 to replace my internet provider. I chose this router because of the several access possibilities.
As an internet access I'm using a 4G/5G data card. I started with a USB ZTE modem but the antenna strength was low so now just purchased a RM520N-GL and I connected it via USB as well, all working fine.
Everything at home works... Except my Roomba. I can connect it to Wifi (2,4GHz), it goes through all the setup without issues, but when I go to the main page on the app, it's always offline. It works in any other connection (even if I use the same card on a phone with hotspot).
What's even stranger is that, even if I set up a VPN with Global Proxy, it still won't work.
AFAIK yes. I just added an old Broadcom smart electric plug (was lost in a box for years) and it just worked, I could add it to my WiFi network and connect/control it through Broadcom's app
Yes, the WiFi setting is always successful, it is added to the network and to my iRobot account, but after the setup the app (which is used to set it up) cannot connect to it.
As I said before, if I pick that data card and put it to a smartphone (or to the ZTE modem if its own WiFi AP is enabled - which it normally isn't) it works fine from setup to utilization.
Unfortunately no, but that's because Roomba won't connect to the app without a working internet access.
I did a different test: I set up my AX1800 router as repeater for another phone's hotspot (disabled the modem). Roomba works fine.
It seems that it's just something related to USB? It wouldn't work with the ZTE modem under "tethering" and it won't work with the new RM520N-GL under "Cellular", both are USB.
My new RM520N-GL has an ethernet interface but unfortunately I haven't figured out how to activate it
I would love to, but I don't really know how to do it. I will look into it
A few days ago the issue "magically" fixed itself. I was at work and got a notification on the iRobot app
But as it worked for a while, it stopped working the same way. Totally strange.
Anyway took a while, but I was finally able to configure the RM520N-GL to use the Ethernet port. I am now using it on the WAN port of the router as expected, Internet is working fine (although now I have no diagnostics of the cellular connection and the connection speed seems lower if that's possible).
Immediately after the new setup Roomba was still offline (so I started writing this reply) but now it became online
I will check it for a few days and report here.
On an unrelated note my router does not have the option to change USB3/USB2 as you image shows.
