Router causing audio and internet interference

Hi,

I am going to do my best to describe this technical issue ive been facing since purchasing the Beryl Ax.I am currently running the router as a repeater because I do not have access to the hotels modem for an ethernet connection. I disabled the wireless access because I am using LAN to my laptop directly via an ethernet cable. This works great as expected until I tried to plug in an audio device while connected to the router. Mind you, I am using a wired headset, so no 2.4 channel to interrupt signal with the router. Also, I am using the repeater as only a 5 ghz band without the option to switch to 2.4ghz. Once my headset is plugged in, the audio options in windows disappear, audio does not play out of laptop speakers or headset until restart. If I try to plug headset in again after restart, what I explained above repeats itself. I also notice the internet connection drops, where pages will half load but never finish going through. I have tried moving the router 15 feet from my laptop but the issue sill persists. If I unplug the router, and just connect to the hotels internet directly via wifi, audio is back and pages load as normal. My laptop is a 2024 asus rog zephyrus G16. I bought the GL-MT 3000 Beryl AX and updated the firmware to the most recent drivers.

Very strange and am not sure what to do next. If you have any questions ask away!

Is it the router or the laptop to blame.
Seems like you are not alone with audio problems out of that phone jack.

Is plugging in some phone jack making some short circuit? 3.5mm phone jacks comes in many executions 2,3,4 ring etc) (In the old days a phone jack plugin electrically disconnected the speakers.)

When I am not using the router, and on my Wi-Fi card on my laptop I do not experience any issues with my audio, headset or laptop speakers, its only when the router is on. I have also tested with another headset that's 2.4 and Bluetooth, both with the same issues as my wired 3.5 mm headset. BUT no router involved=no audio issues on laptop. Its the second I plug in my audio device when I'm using my router that the audio bugs out. Also, I've been told my VOIP in games as well as discord cuts in and out when on the router. I'm not sure what could be causing this interference with the router?

And if you use wireless to connect the Beryl AX, and not the ethernet cable?

But how can ethernet cable and wired headset interfere? I have no idea at all !

i use the beryl as a repeater off of the hotels wifi. I would plug it in to an ethernet port in my hotel room but it seems that connecting the beryl into the wall never connects. So, I plug an ethernet cable from the beryl to my laptop for connection, but the beryl is going off of the hotel wifi as a repeater.

I’m going to return this device because it really hasn’t worked as I hoped it would.

Maybe purchasing a beefy network adapter might solve my bufferbloat issue I face at hotels.

Not surprised. Can happen with some host network settings.

"Repeater" is using the wifi as client/station in the hotel. However nothing is said about the "Network Mode".

If "Network Mode " is "Extender" then your ethernet coupled device will request its own IP address with its own MAC address in the DHCP payload but with the MAC address of the Beryl in the 'Discover' DHCP packet header. This might drop the DHCP lease for the Beryl, depending on the DHCP server and portal settings. (What will make the MultiWAN check to fail, what will stop that connection). Can happen with just standard network settings, no specific action against access sharing.

If "Network Mode" is in "Router" , then the host network actively fighting access sharing might see requests with different TTL values. Some networks don't want you to share your connection, and will shut this connection down.
