I talked to @alzhao and he told me that due to obvious reasons (well, Russia’s war against Ukraine to name it) the Quectel modem firmware has a lock so it won’t work in Russia. It should be because of US sanctions.
Nothing you can do about it.

Is this still valid - I have the problem only with eSIM not with a normal sim
What country do you use it? This issue is related to the cellular modem.
