I have the AX1800 router. It is running behind a power supply that is turned off regularly. This means that the GL-iNet is regularly turned off without any safe shutdown. Is there any need to (or ability to) perform a safe shutdown? Or is it fine to effectively pull the USB power at any time?
I shut off my SFT1200 OPAL every evening and power it up in the morning. Until today I did this a few hundred times. No problem until now.
But I can imagine that there might be a problem if you switch it off in the wrong moment e.g. when writing data to flash.
The device is part of a secure access solution, and if it is off, then access to the secure resources is impossible. So when access is not required, then the device is off. Turning the device on triggers an alert on a different channel. It is for peace of mind.
I should also mention, that the device is double NATed. The GL-iNet device has only one device connected to it. Device and GL-iNet are powered off and on together.
