Samsung Smart TV VPN

Hi, I am a novice and just got a GL-AXT1800.

I have set up NordVPN via Open VPN. My Samsung Smart TV is now connected to the router via Wifi and all apps stream per the country I have set in the VPN with the execption of Amazon Prime Video.

Having change the server many times in the VPN dashboard, I now would like to ask if there is anything recommended beyond this simple step. I have heard about changing the DNS (which I would need step by step instructions to do that...if it's recommended).

Basically... the Amazon Prime App in the Samsung Smart TV is somehow able to "bypass" the VPN. I have proven this as when I connect a Windows device to the same network and the same VPN server, this device works. So what can I do to get the Samsung TV App to work?

How do you know / what is the issue?

I tested this by proving using the same VPN credentials (server etc) the Amazon Prime App worked perfectly on a Windows Device. When trying it on a Samsung Smart TV, the Prime App changes to a different Geo-region after logging in which means the expected content (which is available when using the Windows Device) is not available in the Samsung TV application.

Assume if the VPN proxy is global or others proxy configuration is right, all traffic will through by the VPN client (in the router) to your VPN provider server.

That is sure. If the VPN link down, your device also cannot access the content since the kill-switch works.

Probably can check if the Amazon Prime APP works on the phone which connected with the GL router.

Try to logoff from your Amazon acount in your TV, then connect the TV to the VPN and then logon again.

This is what I see when I'm using VPN on Amazon Prime Video:

Most big providers are able to detect VPN usage.

even small ones...

even with basic ip lists, it's much worse than that

these big companies know exactly what to block and what not, they can get a list of all ASN and easily see if a ripe/arin block is a general isp or a server ip from a datacenter most of this information is public.

now i'm not sure if they do it this extreme but to me it looks impossible to even try with public vpns, I think the best way is find someone with a private ip from a isp to host a vpn server through him/her :stuck_out_tongue:

Looks like amazon prime has lock region while logged in.

When I was in Russia and tried to open amazon app and does not work. I have tried to use UK vpn (adguard vpn) and working fine.
