Bought this device. So far so good. Very fast interface, plenty speed of VPN. Only downside is it has 18.04 version of openwrt. Will it get latest openwrt someday? Thanks in advance

Thank you for choosing GL products. The SFT1200 probably does not have the update plan for OpenWRT, since it builds with the factory closed driver.
We will bring the update first time if the drivers have any updates.
Both the SFT1200 and the SF1200 are built from this 1806_SDK closed source Software Development Kit:
Siflower needs to make their closed source drivers compatible with a newer version.
If they are stuck with swconfig, then 19.07 should be possible, if they are stuck with the 4.14 kernel, then 19.07 should be possible.
It's really unclear why the base SDK is pinned to such a specific release of Openwrt, either Siflower have butchered a lot of things that makes it impossible to move forward, or there's an underlying reliance on the ancient 4.14.90 kernel release which makes it impossible.
