Shadow as Access Point in Client Mode, possible?

Hello,

im looking for an access point (AP) to connect a LAN only device (proprietary micrcontroller) to an existing closed wifi network (no internet access at all). Due to some restrictions, that AP can only be powered by USB. Suprisingly there are basically no access points available that do not come with their own power adapter or poe. That's where i stumbled over the Shadow.

The AP must not create it's own wifi. As i understood that should be possible with the Shadow? Set up repeater mode and disable wifi/wan stuff?

Yes, Shadow (GL-AR300M) can be used as Repeater or Extender mode, and WiFi is disabled, and other terminal devices are connected only through the LAN port.

  1. If you want to extend the parent network and not generate a new subnet, you can choose to use the Extender mode. The IP address will be assigned by the parent network.

  2. If you don't mind generating a new subnet, you can use the Repeater mode. IP address will assigned by Shadow router.
