Right now my router DNS is a default 192 internal network address but I have the option of adding a custom DNS address to match my WireGuard VPN connection, the VPN itself does cover both IP and DNS IP (checked on dnsleaks sites) but I'm wondering whether there would be additional security benefits from setting the routers main DNS IP to that of the VPN provider?
Sorry if this sounds confusing, hopefully somebody will make sense of what I mean
Thanks
In my opinion, for best privacy, set your router to use a DOH or ODOH then Allow Custom DNS to Override VPN DNS.
Then
From VPN use just their IP - they know your IP but can't associate your traffic with it
From dns servers use just their DOH - they know your traffic but can't associate it with your real IP
Please correct me if i:m wrong or know a better way for privacy

Thanks for the suggestion!
I think DNS over HTTPS could be good but don't like the idea of putting my DNS requests with some company other than my VPN provider since I know their legitimacy is audited and court proven but I can't say the same for the host options included.
I always feel suspicious of free privacy services since they cost money to run but aren't getting any money from people who use them.
