I just purchased a GL-X750 router off ebay with the intentions of installing a sim card and using it as a hotspot. The software on the router appears to be LuCI openwrt-18 06 branch / OpenWrt 18.06 1 r7258-5eb055306f. I can't find a modem option in the menus and the LTE light is not lit on the modem. Some guidance would be appreciated.
The modem started working and the sim card connected and everything seemed to be working fine for a while, then data flow just stopped. It started back after I rebooted the router. Maybe a firmware update is needed?
It's on a really old firmware. 3.104. I see there are plenty of updates since then. Should I upgrade to the latest or should I stair step my way to the latest?
Upgrading from your current version to 4.0, I recommend not keeping the configuration upgrade
The current 4.0 firmware does not support file sharing at this time
So I'll just have to set it up again? It detected my T-Mobile sim and connected to the tower automatically. Will I now have to configure it manually? Should I record some settings before doing the firmware upgrade?
I bought it off ebay. It's used and was already configured for T-Mobile. The ad said T-Mobile only. All I did was install the sim card and add my password.
Will it automatically connect to T-Mobile after the firmware update or will I need to perform some type of configuration to connect?
After upgrade to the latest firmware (say the v4.3.19) in the X750, and it also support the T-Mobile SIM card just like you first step the brand-new X750 router, and see if the modem work well.
For the device from the E-Bay is not our official channel, if the software issue we can try to shoot, if the hardware issue, only contact your purchase way to handle it by yourself.
These configurations don't have to be memorized
But I'm not sure if the third party has any special configuration
Can you ask, just to be on the safe side?
This is a GL-X750C4 that's at least 4 years old based on the firmware from 2020. It's was sold to me on eBay as "T-Mobile" only. Is their even such a thing as a carrier locked GL-X750? I had to peel a seal off just to get to the reset button.
Anyway, I just want to know what settings I'm going to have to re enter after I update the firmware. It's working but I have to reboot everyday it seems or it stops sending data.
