Slate 7 (GL-BE3600) disable screen or network QR code?

Hello,

I got my Slate 7 last week and I'm really enjoying but I'm concerned about the unsecured display of Wi-Fi credentials as a QR code on the screen. I know I'm just being paranoid but I feel like it shouldn't be there since it's not locked behind a pin or anything. Is there a way to disable these screens or the QR code? Alternatively, does anyone know how I could modify the QR code to make it display inaccurate details? I have done some basic find/grep commands after ssh-ing in but haven't found anything useful yet. I figured I would make a post here in case someone already knows how to do something about it.

P.S. If anyone from GL-iNet sees this, are there any plans to address the information displayed on the screen in a future firmware update?

Hello,

The control of screen display is independent hardware.

This request has been collected.
It will be developed on firmware v4.8, the page displayed on the screen can be set in the GL GUI.

For example, if you do not want to display the QR code, you can uncheck WiFi page.

@bruce I also wonder about the security of being able to scan a QR code or press to see the SSID password on the screen. How about the ability to turn the screen or QR or password off like on the Mudi ? Then people have the option to display what they feel is "safe" based on their circumstances (or is that the answer you are describing here? )

Yes, future v4.8 on BE3600, it will be like E750, will support choosing which pages you want to display on the screen.

The sensitive information displayed and accessible on the LCD screen must be configurable. I intend to use my Slate 7 (GL-BE3600) in hotels where I will have a PTZ Camera connected to monitor housekeeping and my sleep. I am paranoid and prefer to be so. I have no plans to change this. With that being said, I am extremely security-focused. The ability for someone to simply touch the screen and access my Wi-Fi and view my passwords is unacceptable. I purchased this device recently, and this feature needs to developed as a PRIORITY. Otherwise, I will have no choice but to return it.

I urge your development team to prioritize security in all their decisions. Given that this is a travel router, this should have been a fundamental aspect of your design choices. It is concerning that you all overlooked this.

Yes, this needs to happen ASAP, it is a clear overview on security

This feature has been in first priority to develop.
