Slate 7 USB Tethering Not Working with Samsung S26 Ultra

Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue getting USB internet tethering to work between my GL.iNet Slate 7 and my Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, and I'd appreciate any help or insights from the community.

Setup:

  • Router: GL.iNet Slate 7 (latest firmware)
  • Phone: Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra
  • Connection type: USB tethering

Problem:
When I connect the phone to the router via USB and enable USB tethering on the phone, the router seems to attempt to establish the connection, but it takes an extremely long time and ultimately fails. As a result, there is no internet connectivity.

What I've already tried:

  • Multiple different USB cables
  • Toggling USB tethering off and on again on the phone
  • Restarting the phone
  • Restarting the router
  • Updated the Slate 7 to the latest firmware

Despite all of the above, the issue persists. The phone and router seem to "see" each other to some extent since it tries to connect, but the process just hangs indefinitely without establishing a working connection.

Has anyone experienced this with a Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra or similar recent Samsung devices? Could this be a compatibility issue with the newer Samsung One UI version or Android release? Any logs I can pull from the router admin panel to help diagnose this?

Thanks in advance!

Could you please try or provide the following:

  1. Using the same USB cable, does USB tethering on the Galaxy S26 Ultra work with other devices (e.g., a PC or laptop)?
  2. Please try enabling USB debugging on the Galaxy S26 Ultra in Developer Options and see if it makes any difference.
  3. If it still doesn’t help, please export the logs and send them to us via private message so we can investigate further.
