Their products line is getting more and more confused and I am unsure what the target market is here. Who on earth is desperate for a travel router with WiFi 7 nowadays? Well, I should not be surprised really after the one with the photoframe on it, should I?
I
Makes sense to connect a LTE Stick or a small USB drive
it seems like they missed the opportunity to include an XD card for local storage ;-(
Just stumbled about a YouTube short about the Slate 7:
really nice user interface via the touch-screen....
Iām buying this thing, looks like a great update to my faithful Slate AX. Not needing to log into a web interface or app for basic function adjustment is rad especially when on an airplane etc.
And before you all hate on my opinion I also have a few USB150s and some AR300M for when I really care about minimal size.
This photo was taken last week on my flight home from Mexico
And if most of us are honest with ourselves this travel router obsession is more of a hobby than anything else. If you like your current model better, great! If you like a competitors product better, awesome go buy it!
Data Sheet:
Differences in size and weights of the different Slate models:
Original Slate: 100 x 68 x 24mm - volume 163200 cubic mm, weight: 86g
Slate Plus: 118 x 84 x 33mm - volume 327096 cubic mm, weight: 181g
Slate AX: 125 x 82 x 36mm - volume 369000 cubic mm, weight: 245g
Slate 7: 130 Ć 91 Ć 34mm - volume 402220 cubic mm, weight: 295g
Why are two 2.5 GB ports on all pictures, but the be3600 data sheet is mentioning 1GB/s for LAN, and 2,5 GB/s WAN?
even in the text they are mentioning 2x2.5GB/s ethernet ports.... IMO this is not the final version of the datasheet...
how much power does the USB3 port provide?
Will it power a HDD / SSD?
I thought that was odd also.
Iām also noticing a significant reduction in VPN speeds over Slate AX
Wooo! Very fancy! Its actually fairly small!
USB3 port will continue to comply with USB3 standards when it comes to power delivery, as it has been since day one on all devices. So no, it won't deliver 1.21 gigawatts of power like DeLorean.
Could be a typo in documentation which does happen at times. And I do see major typos when it comes to Power Delivery ( PD ) as well. I have yet to see any router or laptop that is capable of Power Delivery as it states in documentation, which is clearly not possible by any device which has an USB3 port. Especially while consuming less than 8 Watts and Maximum of 15 Watts. Again, typos do happen.
MacBook Pro charger with 100w is bigger than an Opal.
I don't travel full-time but those travel-routers are not for this intention anyway, I would say. They are just called travel routers because you can easily take them with you.
Need a true comparison to the Mango.
What do you mean you can fit 4 Mangos in a Slate 7?
I really don't know if worth buy a slate 7 if you have a beryl ax or slate ax... Thinking about it...
The Slate 7 will probably never be supported on vanilla OpenWrt, I wish we could have that as an option too but not a big deal to me
Zero interest. The reason I have/like the bAX and F2 is that openwrt officially supports that MT SOC now. OpenWRT One has the same chipset as the bAX. Support will be GREAT with the MT chipset open source Qualcomm has always sucked at that
I had to laugh really hard. Thanks for this one.
I wonder if it would be possible to use that screen to maybe make it connect to a unsecured wifi-network. That way I believe you could use it in plenty locations without needing to connect to the web-interface of the Slate 7.
That would be damn newbie friendly!
Hi, this link doesn't work?? I get a AccessDenied error..? is the link changed?
Looks like they took it down.
The next Beryl might be based on MediaTek
