I have a Slate Router I'm using only for file sharing between computers. I have a 512gb card formatted with exFat installed. I'm using smb for file transfer protocl. I'm getting the following problems:
Windows 10 can't see the drive or the card. It's like it doesn't exist. I've tried directly accessing with an ip address, tried the sharing link from within the Slate, mapping a network drive and installing a network location, nothing works.
Windows 11 - I can see the drive and move files from the drive to my computers. However, when I drag and drop or copy and paste a file, I see the file name and 0kb. When I click on the file, nothing is there. If I try to copy and paste again I get the standard "do you want to replace this file" message; when I affirm and copy, the file appears in it's entirety.
Windows 11 - the transfer is extremely slow - 12mb a sec.
If I drag from the card, it doesn't copy - it physically moves the file.
It doesn't seem like it should be this complicated to set up file sharing....
Considering that Windows 11 is able to connect to the SMB server, we think that there may be some settings in Windows 10 that prevent it from connecting to.
Could you share with us some screenshots showing what error Windows 10 is reporting when trying to add it in right-click on This PC - Show more options - Add a network location?
If you are using anonymous mode, try creating a user/password and then see if Windows 10 connects properly.
It looks like the unstable network is preventing the files from being copied correctly.
Is Windows 11 connected to the AX1800 wired or wireless (2.4GHz or 5GHz)?
If wireless, is it possible to try connecting the Windows 11 PC to the AX1800 LAN port via network cable and see if the problem persists?
Please note that our router's Network Storage is more of a small, lightweight solution that may not be able to match the performance of a professional NAS.
What would be the read/write speeds if the SD/TF card was connected directly to the computer via the same card reader?
Also, please check if the USB is working in 3.0 mode when it is plugged into the AX1800.
It's a bit strange that Windows' default behavior should be to copy when dragging files across different drives.
Are you hitting the shift key by mistake when dragging file?
In addition, we recommend that you upgrade the firmware of your AX1800 to version 4.8.0 beta for further testing.
You can download it here and follow this tutorial to upgrade the firmware.
