I have a SLATE AXT1800 and am having the wifi stability issues, when upgrading to 4.7.0. Downgraded to 4.6.8 as others have done and issue has gone away. Obviously this is not effecting everyone or there would be tons of comments but it is a problem that is effecting some of us. Hopefully it will get fixed.
Hello,
Could you please share the issue syslog about v4.7.0 unstable WiFi?
Please let us know the unstable wireless client MAC, we try to find it on the syslog.
Hi Bruce,
Here is the MAC Address: 94:83:C4:30:E4:76
I no longer have the logs from when trying to run 4.7.0.
It has been running rock solid for 3 days now on 4.6.4
Hope the MAC address at least helps some. If you look on Reddit, you might find one of the other folks that have had the same issue, they might have their logs. If I run into an issue with a future release I will be sure to save the logs.
Regards,
Thanks.
It needs to get the issue syslog and follow the interaction/action of the wireless client MAC to check the issue.
Thanks for your feedback, will try to reproduce.
Hi Bruce,
On my AXT-1800, I've also been having Wi-Fi stability issues since the 4.7.0 update.
I initially thought this was an issue affecting only one or two specific devices; but over time, it becomes random, and any device (2G or 5G Wi-Fi) ends up experiencing disconnections or unstable Wi-Fi speeds.
I can easily reproduce the problem by running speed tests (nperf.com) on my Android tablet (5G Wi-Fi): I notice that the disconnections occur during peak bandwidth consumption.
You'll find the syslog export attached.
Looking forward to your response.

Thank you.
The first two times the client disconnects, the reason is after changing the wireless configuration and the WiFi restart.
The third time is the wireless interference or poor signal, GL router repeater can not receive the beacon sent by the primary router within 3 seconds, and repeater actively disconnects. When the repeater disconnects, it switches back to its original channel, and the client re-connects
Hi @MustardSeed
- Could you please let me know the network topology image?
- Please share the configuration with us, export from Luci > System > Backup/Flash Firmware.
- Please let me know the MAC of Android tablet.
- Is the AXT1800 Wi-Fi SSID of 2.4GHz and 5GHz same one?
I am guessing this is for robb1 as I am not using an android tablet. Please let me know if I have misunderstood.
Hi,
Sorry, I am up to my neck.
I just would like to know your issue about these:
- Network topology image
- Configuration
- Is the AXT1800 Wi-Fi SSID of 2.4GHz and 5GHz same one?
The 1800 is always in repeater mode. All connections are wireless.
When the issue was happening I tried with ssids as the same and different. The issue was seen in both cases. Now running 4.6.4 both SSIDs are the same and it is running fine.
I hope I have answered all your questions. Let me know if you need more.
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Is the repeater connected primary WiFi "multi-APs and same SSID"?
If yes, we are aware this issue on AXT1800/v4.7.0, and R&D is working hard for it.
Most of the time it was connected as you stated above. It did disconnect a couple of times when I connected to my phone, but the major issue was connected to WiFi "multi-APs and the same SSID.
Thank you for looking into this. Hopefully R&D will find a solution.
Hi,
Please upgrade the AXT1800 firmware to v4.8.0, this issue has been improved in this version. Thanks!
Hi Bruce,
I upgraded to 4.11 and it was still unstable. I did find if I locked to a BSSID it seems to become completely stable.
I then connected to a different SSID but the same BSSID and this one was very unstable. So what I have here is an SSID with two different subnets. One seems to be stable and the other not. I am not a net work person but googling around this seems to be a non standard way to set up the network and could lead to these sort of issues.
I have downgraded to 4.6.4 ( I had 4.6.4 local so used that instead of 4.6.8) and the issue has gone away again.
I will try 4.6.8 as you suggested and see it that is any more stable
Oh. I have used my ubiquity router and have not had the issue. That info may or may not help.
I hope this information may help a little in troubleshooting on your end.
Thanks
I spoke too soon 4.6.4 lasted a little long but then the instability started again.
Hello,
Please try to upgrade to v4.8.0 (beta) firmware for axt1800 and test again:
That did not work either, it lasted about 20 minutes. I just now noticed that when it fails it is not just dropping wifi, it is making the router reboot. It has been doing that all along, I just did not put it together.
As always thanks for your help
Hi,
Is it the repeater or WiFi (own, for wireless clients)?
If have tried to reset the firmware for router and test it?
If yes, please PM me the issue syslog in v4.8.0 firmware.
