Slate Plus A1300 with EasyTether configurations

I just received my Slate Plus GL-A1300 and want to install EasyTether.

EDIT: This is not correct. It should work with the Gl.inet version of OpenWrt

According to earlier posts by alzhao I would need to install the generic OpenWrt . <<

Anyway, EasyTether is not working at this time. Logs have been attached in replies below.

Thanks for any suggestions.

To be clear, I have installed on my Slate Plus the Easytether 19.07.3 drivers for ipq40xx , both openssl and tiny version. Neither seem to work.

The original firmware was 4.0.0, i installed the snapshot 4.1 too and tried it all. Still not working.

Do you have any log or error message?

Using an Android phone with EasyTether (ET) installed, and this same phone works on my other Gl.inet routers with ET installed. Any other device trying to connect to this Slate Plus WIFI , it says no internet connection’

Tested again today with the latest beta firmware, still not working.

My phone says ‘connection established’ however there is no internet connectivity for any clients attached to the Slate Plus WIFI.

I had Repeater mode enabled when setting this up, for ‘opkg update’ and ‘opkg install ./easytether…’ but after that I disabled the Repeater mode. So it should just be using the tethered phone for connectivity. Here are logs:

The log shows easytether program is working. I don’t know why it does not connect as I don’t use it.

Anybody else is using easytethering on B1300 or A1300?

Definitely odd that the WIFI connected clients do not have internet connectivity with EasyTether enabled. Like you see, the logs appear to show EasyTether working as expected. My phone also shows ‘connection established’. So frustrating.

Here is what does work:
a. ‘Standard’ Tethering via my phone directly in the USB 3.0 port and the Internet/Tethering settings enabled.
b. Repeater mode shares a WIFI with internet, connection with clients
c. The phone I’m using for tethering has an internet/data connection when all on its own, confirmed with SpeedTest

Alzhao, is there something else I should look at in the logs with the WIFI-connected clients?

When easytethering is the only Internet source of the router, can you ssh to the router and check

ping google.com
ping 8.8.8.8

It may tell if the tethering is actually working. If ping goes throught, then it is problem of router settings.
If ping does not go through, then it may be problem of easytethering.

Alzhao, that is a good idea, thanks. So I tried it and it did not work. It seems that the router ‘thinks’ easytether is working, but its not actually connecting. Just weird.

If you have other ideas please let me know.

root@GL-A1300:~# ping google.com
ping: bad address ‘google.com’
root@GL-A1300:~# ping 8.8.8.8
PING 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8): 56 data bytes
ping: sendto: Network unreachable

It mean easytether is not working correctly.

Can you install again?

I don’t have an andoid phone to test.

I returned the Slate Plus for a refund. Just could not make it work either.

Kongo32, do you know how to load the OpenWrt 1907 onto the Slate Plus? Can you point to some documentation about how to do that? Thanks.

Thanks for your sharing.

Seems it is a problem of Easytether on OpenWrt 1907 and OpenWrt 2102.

I don’t think this can be solved now.

Alzho, do you know how to load the OpenWrt 1907 onto the Slate Plus? Can you point to some documentation about how to do that? Thanks.

Currently there is no openwrt 1907 firmware for A1300.

I am asking developer to have a check what they can do.

Can the software on your mobile phone access the Internet normally on b1300+openwrt19.07?
Some easytether software is a simplified version that blocks https websites

lALPGP5wMJhe9OzNAcvNApY_662_459
Please check whether the easytheter program on your mobile phone is like this, it blocks https requests

I have the paid version of EasyTether , so no restriction on websites. I’ve had this software for a couple of years and have successfully installed it on several Gl.Inet routers. Just not working with the Slate Plus at this time

Ok, for openwrt 21.02 and later, a slight modification is required in the documentation

vi /etc/config/network

/etc/init.d/network restart

vi /etc/config/firewall

/etc/init.d/firewall restart

Thanks YWP.
This worked for me. I was just about to return my AC1300. I don’t know much about networking and have never used “LUCI” but it was easy enough to figure out.
