I'm using a Slate Plus with the latest firmware update from the GUI.
At the moment I'm in a hotel with captive portal but facing issues because the hotel wifi requests repeated captive portal logins after some minutes of using the WiFi.
I tried to connect directly through the slate plus und confirming the captive portal and I already tried with cloning MAC address from my smartphone after directly connecting to the hotel WiFi, doesn't change anything.
Hotel WiFi Signal strength is good and in the GUI I couldn't detect any problems with the signal strength.
You can try to go to your repeater options, and from there enable the checkbox for captive portals, this will simulate a scheduled http connection i believe which mean it won't make you login again.
If the option is not there you can check if there is a update of your firmware, you can also try something like installing travel mate via the plugins, but keep in mind that you have to write your own script its more tasky to do so.
If you change mac address that won't work in this case because they only see your router as a new device it likely just ask again for portal then.
Ok I will check later whether this option is available.
Regarding this script, do I understand it right that it simulate a permanent connection to prevent captive portal timeout? I missed to add to my first post that issue appears during full usage (streaming, usage of smartphone clients)
This highly depends how it disconnects, not every captive portal is the same.
But i guess if they use some kind of rate limiting method then you have to change mac each time but i think you cannot do it without disconnect to wifi first.
This special captive portal option I couldn't find.
I made several trails and most of the time the connection is closed at around 500 MB streaming volume and seldom I was able to reach 2-3GB.
Maybe, I didn't asked. But I assume not because they have chromecasts in every room and an instruction how to use and stream your favourite videos on the TV.
