I was going to buy Beryl, which is supported by Openwrt, because Openwrt updates are important to me. However, I noticed that Slate Plus performs better at a similar price. I’m concerned about stopping the official firmware releases in the future because Slate Plus is not supported by Openwrt. Will it be possible to install Openwrt into Slate plus?
You should go with Slate Plus. This product is made with a stable Qualcomm chipset and it runs the OpenWrt 21.02. Currently, we are working with OpenWrt developer to get it listed on OpenWrt.org.
