Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a GL-MT600 / Flint 2 to use as a VPN server for accessing my home network and files remotely. Initially, I had it connected to my ISP's main router, and everything worked perfectly. The VPN speeds were quite good—about 300 Mbps on WireGuard and 150 Mbps on OpenVPN. My ISP provides a 300 Mbps up-and-down connection.
Since everything was working fine, I decided to simplify my setup by removing the ISP router and using the Flint 2 as my main router (too many devices were connected otherwise). However, after making this change, the VPN server speeds dropped significantly. Now, I’m getting a maximum of around 15 Mbps upload/download on WireGuard and just 3 Mbps on OpenVPN.
I've checked the configuration extensively, but I can’t pinpoint the issue. The only notable change I made was switching the default IP range from 192.168.8.1
to 192.168.1.1
, which is now also the router’s IP.
Has anyone else experienced something similar, or does anyone have suggestions on what might be causing the slowdown?
Thanks in advance for your help!
