So I just brought a Slate 7 but im not sure if it was the right thing to do?

So I already have a Flint 3 and just purchased a Slate 7 to reach blackspots in my home, so a couple of questions I have, is it possible to extend all bands from the Flint 3 ? so the 2.4ghz, 5ghz and maybe use MLO on the slate to extend the 6ghz band from the Flint, or just keep the MLO SSID the same as the 6ghz band on the Flint 3 so when I reach the other side of my home it my devices just automatically switch to the Slate 7 ? im not using MLO on my Flint.

Hope this makes sense to someone, im kind of new to this sort of thing and not sure if I should of just brought a couple of wifi extenders ?

Also would it be repeater mode or extender mode I would need to use ? im basically just looking to cover the blackspots im my home, im not looking to create a completely separate network.

The Slate 7 doesn’t support the 6GHz band, only 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

To wether you need a different router..., if you are not so technical I rather would go with some kind of mesh system, it's easier as full system.

You can try extender mode, and maybe even enable fast roaming via luci, the ssid need to be same between ap, the channel needs difference, and they need the same encryption key and mobility domain.

Roaming only works if there is around 50dBM difference, so you might want to lower tx power.

With wifiman on Android you can see this very well.

Though, it doesn't mean the router steers clients to a access point, these are all client decisions, and some clients don't care and join the farest away AP.

It can cause sometimes more issues than the better.

There is also dawn which can steer as plugin but requires some technical configuration.

OK, so once I got this setup, and it was a bit of a ball ache, its working almost perfectly, I enabled MLO on my flint 3 and just allowed the use of the 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands, The Slate 7 only has IoT devices connected to it, leaving the Flint 3 for everything else.

The only downside (and im not sure if there is a work around for this) I can only access the Slate 7 by hardwiring my laptop to it, I cant connect to it wirelessly ? is that normal ?

Also I cant see devices connected to the Slate 7 on the Flint 3 ? should I be able to see this or does this require connecting to the Slate 7 ?

The only things I had to really change on the Slate 7 was the LAN address to avoid a conflict, so whilst the Flint 3 has the default IP address of 192.168.8.1, the Slate has 192.168.10.1, as I said I can access the slate with that IP address perfectly fine if I hardwire to it, but not wirelessly.

Devices on both networks can communicate perfectly fine, so my Google Nest Max is on the Flint 3 and will control IOT devices on the Slate fine, my Printer is also on the Slate and can print from Phones and PCs connected to the Flint, id just like to be able to either see all those devices on the flint too or access the slate wirelessly.
