Spitz AX (GL-X3000) - cellular problem with WWW, social media works

Hi all,

I've got problem with Spitz AX (GL-X3000).
Tested with newest stable Firmware 4.74 and beta 4.8.0

I've got problem with Ukrainian SIM from lifecell.ua (https://www.lifecell.ua/).
eSim is instaled on GL.iNet Eiot Club and second one on 5Ber.

Social media works perfect (YT, Instagram, X, Facebook) but WWW didnt works OK. Only google search engine (google.com) works fine and show search results very fast, but after click WWW didnt works or works veeeeery slow.

Both sim pluged into other routers or mobile phones works with any issue.

Sim configuration:
APN: internet
Authentication type:none (testep CHAP)

other fields: blank

Other operators works OK (Orange)

Tested with simmilat DNSs:

  • cloudflare
  • google
  • and some others.

What can i do to fix this issue?

Hello,

  1. Please manually set the modem MTU, like 1472, 1280, etc.
  2. Please SSH to the router, and execute these commands to check, post the result to the thread:
ifconfig
ip r
ping 1.1.1.1
ping 8.8.8.8
ping www.google.com
ping google.com
ping www.x.com
ping x.com

Hi, did you try using different browsers or different devices to see if you get the same errors?

Thanks all a lot, after MTU change WWW works OK.

I'm used Ping & Net app.

Proper MTU for this connection: 1394

My question:
MTU above works great in Poland (roaming in Orange) but when i cross borders to other countries MTU can be different? Other country = other roaming mobile operator.

Yes. MTU is related to the network operator. When the SIM card roams to different operator network, the MTU value may be change.

OpenWrt enables TCP MSS Clamping by default. The firewall will automatically optimize the TCP MSS value to prevent fragmentation, and users do not need to intervene manually. If you roam to other services and unsure about the MTU value, simply remove the MTU settings on the router to try.
