Spitz, Puli or Collie as multipurpose device

Hi there, looking for advice.

I'm looking for a device based on matching to a jack of all trades options (lots of ideas bouncing around my head......) :

  • Reasonable price (under £150 / $200)
  • Used for travel, would prefer portability
    - Can the Spitz / Collie be powered from a power bank that provides a 12V/1.5A charge ?
  • Preferably used for LTE failover to a Unifi UCG when not away from home
  • Good reception on low quality signal
    - Do the external antenna on the Spitz / Collie make a significant difference ?
  • Plug and play usage (once setup) for my other half who's not the most technical of people
  • Preferred simplicity in setting up OpenVPN Client to ExpressVPN (common travel location uses DPI and ExpressVPN seems to be the most reliant provider)

Any help appreciated.......

I have all three. Collie X300B (GPS version with 4 x paddle antenae), Spitx X750v2 and Puli XE300

  1. Price - all three
  2. Portability - probably the Puli, as no antennae to connect and bulit in battery) but not a lot in it.
  3. Power bank - probably, 1.5A should be enough.
  4. External antennae making a difference - I find the Collie better than both and the Spitz better than the Puli The Collie is excellent for 4G reception and also has a very strong WiFi range compared to both (off topic > just shame it doesn't have a USB port!).
  5. Plug 'n' Play - Yes, all the same (except connecting the antennae)
  6. Setting-up VPN - all the same
  7. LTE fallover - no idea.

Hope this helps.
PS. don't know how the Collie GPS with paddle antennae compares to the other models with plastic.
