Subnet conflicts. Please change LAN IP VPN NOT WORKING ON 5G

Hey, I got a new router, and I'm getting that subnet conflict message. I changed one to 192.168.20.1, and the main one is 192.168.8.1. The .20 connects to a VPN, but it only works on the 2.4 GHz band, not the 5 GHz band. Same when I try to access the settings page; it only works on 2.4 GHz with the 192.168.20.1 address. If I switch back to 192.168.8.1, everything works, including the VPN, but I get the subnet conflict with the other router, and the connection keeps dropping. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hello,

Does this subnet conflict prompt mean that there is a conflict between the WAN IP and the router LAN subnet?

If yes, you may modify the router's main LAN address, GL GUI > Network > LAN > Router IP Address: 192.168.20.1.

If no luck, please draw a network topology image to let us know, including all network devices and IP of each interface.

I created this little map; hope it helps. Both GL.iNet routers have 192.168.8.1 as factory, so I changed the one that connects to the VPN (Slate) to avoid the conflict and connection dropping issue, but I only get VPN on 2.4 and not the 5G.

Good to know the topology.

But I have questions, how do you make the Slate 2.4G go to VPN, but not the 5G?
Generally, the VPN policy is Private/Primary 2.4&5G Wi-Fi or Guest 2.4&5G Wi-Fi.

If Flint and Slate are not in the upper and lower connection relationship, their subnets will not conflict.
For example, Flint and modem or Slate and modem are upper and lower relationship.

The question is in Slate's WiFi 5G, which is on the same bridge as 2.4G and LAN by default.
It is unlikely that only 5G does not work while 2.4G and LAN work fine.

Please reset the Slate and re-configure again, while disconnect or power off the Flint.
