Suggestion for Tailscale UI Improvement

(Also posted on the Discord server):

Suggestion for improvement of the Tailscale UI: At present, if you enable the use of an exit node on the router, you only get to select from a list of IP addresses. This is especially problematic if you are purchasing Mullvad through Tailscale (as I am) as you then see a list of hundreds of IP addresses!

So, two suggestions:

1: Enumerate the names of custom exit nodes
2: If a user has Mullvad through Tailscale, expose a country-sorted list of named Mullvad exit nodes enumerated through Tailscale, to make it much easier to select the one that you want.

The attached image below is an example of how a tool on Linux called 'KTailctl' presents exit nodes when Mullvad is also being purchased through TS: As you can see, the names of custom exit nodes are shown, as well as a list of countries (which is only displayed if you have purchased Mullvad through TS).

Selecting any country then shows a list of Mullvad server TS Exit nodes in that country. This leads me to believe it should be possible to enhance the GL.iNet Router UI for tailscale in a similar manner.

Hi,

Currently the Tailscale function of GL firmware seems to have not yet been fully support this kind of exit node like Mullvad over Tailscale.

As a requirement, I will submit this to support such exit nodes in the develop plan.

Thank you!

The Mullvad nodes do get shown - but it ends up being a big huge list of just IP addresses. Mainly a UI improvement is what's needed.

Many thanks for passing it on!

+1. I have the same issue - Mullvad exit nodes are listed as a giant list of IPs, so no way to filter by location which is frustrating.
