After using GL.iNet routers for a little while, I figured that the Client page is a little vague and I have some suggestions to improve it.
Firstly, please add a section in the client details for first joined (ever), last joined, and connection time (during the session if active.) There may be times where a client joined my network without notice and then leaves the network, leaving me confused.
Secondly, the Delete All and Auto-Remove Offline Clients needs 2 types. Currently, the delete all function removes not only the clients in the offline list, but it clears data usage as well. I would like if the delete all could put all offline clients into a hidden offline clients place with the data statistics and custom names saved so the clients don’t clutter the default offline list, especially when I take my router outside and a bunch of devices join with other random MAC addresses. For the Auto-Remove Offline Clients function, it should only remove the clients off the default list after a certain time (eg. midnight) or after reboot, instead of deleting the client profile as soon as they disconnect. For the hidden offline clients list, there should be a function to delete the list in case you do not need them.
Speaking for clients list, please add a multi-select mode, if I need to bulk delete clients, but not all of the clients, it takes quite some time to delete, and especially because it keeps asking for confirmation.
Third, please let the Block/Allowlist function additionally puts the MAC addresses to the Wi-Fi blocklist, so the device is rejected on Layer 2 instead. Even though it’s possible to add it in LuCI, if there are too many WiFi interfaces, it is time consuming as well. There has been once where an exploiter used a device that sent extremely high upload data when blocked from the panel, causing the router to crash (in Allowlist mode). Since the wireless radio accepted the device, it allowed the exploit to occur.
Last, there should be a replacement for the Wi-Fi interface with the Wi-Fi interface SSID. Instead of saying “2GHz Wi-Fi”, it should say something like “2.4GHz Wi-Fi ‘SSID Name’”, since I have a few extra SSIDs rather than the normal 6 SSIDs.
