Support for obfuscated OpenVPN TCP (needed in restricted regions)

Hi GL.iNet team,

I’d like to ask if you could consider adding support for OpenVPN configurations with XOR/obfuscation (such as NordVPN’s obfuscated TCP servers).

In some regions of the world, using standard VPN connections is not enough, and **obfuscated OpenVPN over TCP is often necessary** to bypass DPI and maintain a stable connection.

At the moment, these configs only work with specific clients (e.g., Tunnelblick), and cannot be used on routers due to the lack of client-side obfuscation support.

Adding support for this (e.g., XOR patch or similar obfuscation methods) would make GL.iNet routers much more effective in restricted networks.

Is this something you might consider for future firmware updates?

Thanks!

Hi

Thank you for your suggestion. We will forward this as a feature request to the product team for evaluation.

At this point, it may be difficult to implement, as NordVPN has not released any specific implementation details or source code.

The only available third-party client is currently only compatible with macOS, and porting it to OpenWRT could be quite challenging.

Therefore, it is unlikely that there will be any updates or progress in the near future.

Xray/VLESS is getting more and more essential in some places as Amnezia is getting blocked. A X-ray client would be nice!
