WTF... so the brain rot isn't limited to Tik Tok, then. Make it black. Put the cost of the colored plastics into improving the software, hardware stack. Form follows function.

You better make sure your devs don't start 'vibe coding,' Sandy. That really will be the death of GL.iNet.

Hi yes, we've always aimed to deliver a great experience that goes beyond just hardware and software. As a travel router, we also want it to look good and match different styles

That said, performance and optimization will always remain our top priority. That part, we promise never to compromise on.

You (GL.iNet) are building beta firmware on versions that are already end of life'd (Slate AX, v4.8.0-beta9, OWRT 23.05-SNAPSHOT). It doesn't matter how purdy the case is if the internals are already obsolete.

I truly liked the lite purple color on the brume1.

I also like the slate7 grey.

If I'd have to pick, go with the slate7 color

I know it's all superficial nonsense but is the Slate 7 actually grey? I admit I like the square design more than the Slate AX's rounded edges but is it also just grey? Gross. Black is timeless... & it's not like you're going to be worrying about interior design while travelling. That's what makes this whole thread so beyond absurd.

Save it for your 'home' routers, GL.iNet; get your priorities straight.

I prefer something bright and noticeable. As I travel a lot, it is easy to overlook a travel router that blends in with everything around it, especially in dark hotel rooms. Red often catches my eye.

Bright orange for me please…

If they can make that small tiny orange one (dual gig eth with Wi-Fi and SD and USBC OTG), I'd be in love. $50-60. Basically a brume2 size with 1 ant.

I don't need Wi-Fi 6 or 7 on a cruise ship or hotel. I just need stable Wi-Fi 5 and small form factor.

I want some extra performance (1gb ram and 4-8gb emmc) so I don't need to carry around a RPI4. I want to do file sharing and stream an mp3/mp4 etc etc, all the normal stuff.

I think even a light blue would be nice. I think the AR300 had a light blue version.

I agree. The default color should be black. Anything else should be optional.

I’m down for a fun orange one, will be easy to spot floating around in a bag or left plugged into an unfamiliar environment.

Bright yellow would be great. Lost count of the number of dark coloured things I’ve left behind in muted colour scheme hotel rooms.

Great idea. Have the same problem

This is one reason orange/yellow/neon green duct tape exists. I use it on my luggage, devices, wife, etc.

I am baffled how many people spend 1000$ on a black suitcase and then the same people stand at the conveyor after every flight, eyeing every bag that passes, wondering if it may be theirs. Orange duct tape fixes that.

Let GL dedicate 100% of their resources to building decent hardware and fixing firmware - rather than waste their precious resources on colors.

I bought a green suitcase for that exact reason. Same price as a black one too.

Don’t think that wrapping your router in duct tape is a very good idea!

It isn’t necessary to wrap them hermetically like a mummy

Just enough to be certain it will be seen, usually a small-size bit on front & back, or even just the top.

Makes it very fast and error-free to spot & collect everything yours.
