Tailscale Mullvad Inquiry

So I have tailscale and mullvad. Use both on the flint 2. I noticed now that tailscale has mullvad as a exit node option you can purchase seperately from their vpn subscription which sort of sucks. Is there a way to get the flint 2 to not only use the mullvad as a exit node, but maybe use it and then be able to set the vpn policies like normal but using that exit node vs a vpn file or signing into mullvad. Then we wont need to buy 2 subscriptions. It seems so close to possible already since both features are on the flint 2. I assume they would need to do a firmware mod.

Summary: Make the flint 2 be able to use the tailscale mullvad exit node feature for the vpn section of the router allowing normal vpn policies to use this feature.

Advise?

I seen like someone posted awhile ago when the mullvad addon is turned on for the router, the custom exit nodes work but they are only ip ddreses and not locations we can see.

Once this is turned on can the router use this exit node for the vpn policies?

Or maybe it can access the login info somehow and sign us into the vpn dashboard area for mullvad so we dont need to pay twice.

Hi

Thank you for your suggestions regarding Tailscale and Mullvad.

There're some details we'd like to confirm with you:

  1. Mullvad Exit node location
On Tailscale software for Windows/Linux, etc., is the location of the Mullvad exit node displayed?

  2. Tailscale Exit Node as VPN Policy
Currently, the Tailscale application only operates in global mode and cannot be adjusted to be compatible with VPN policies.
However, if future Tailscale applications support this feature, we will submit it to the R&D team for review and explore implementation in future versions.

I udnerstand what your saying for #2. But I dont think it matters how tailscale operates unless Im wrong here. The tailscale app runs everything thru its exit node when turned on. So via the router firmware why cant you put a tailscale option on my 2nd picture where it says “via”. So we make policies on the router and can click tailscale exit node. Then whatever is setup in tailscale via their application is where it will go. So for example I turned on custom exit node and its a server in chicago. Then via your firmware instead of everything heading out that exit node, only have the items in the policies head that way because we set the policy to tailscale exit node. Hope that makes sense. Your firmware is routing it all thru tailscale anyways. I dont see why we cant put it in the policy on your end to allow certain things thru the exit node instead of all.

I get it their application only supports everything going thru their exit node but you guys should be able to decide what heads that way somehow.
