Tailscale Not Working on Slate 7

I have set up Tailscale on my Slate 7, but when I try to ping an address within my Tailscale network, it fails and times out. On my X3000, I don't have this issue, and setting up Tailscale is seamless. I observe the same problem with ZeroTier as well, so there must be an issue with the device not autoconfiguring correctly. However, I am unsure what to try to fix it. How do I go about diagnosing and resolving this issue?

Hello,

I did not reproduce this issue on my Slate 7 with v4.7.2 firmware.

Slate 7 (192.168.8.1) and MT3000(192.168.13.1) are in same Tailnet.

Probably the Slate7 subnet is not approved in the Tailscale center.
Please try to unbind the Tailscale, reset the firmware, and then configure again.

After I enabled "Allow Remote Access LAN" and specified the subnet of my Slate 7 (192.168.8.1) in the Tailscale Admin Console, I was able to ping all IPs within my Tailnet. However, the description for "Allow Remote Access LAN" states: "If this option is enabled, the resources inside the device LAN will be allowed to be accessed via the Tailscale virtual network."

I didn't necessarily want my Slate 7's subnet to be accessible to other devices in my Tailnet by default. The wording doesn't imply that this option is required for devices on my Slate 7 to access other devices in the Tailnet. For instance, on my Android device, I use the Tailscale VPN app and don't need to expose my subnet to ping or access other Tailnet IPs. Is it possible to achieve the same configuration for my Slate 7?

Hello,

The function Tailscale is to form a remote virtual network (Tailnet) to enable access to each other on different network devices (or different subnets).

When remote LAN (subnet route) is approved, the router LAN is allowed to access to or be accessed by the Tailnet.

You can try other ways, such as add the customize iptables (firewall) rules.

Not working here both on beta and stable firmware. I can enable it but can’t get a setup link. Can’t get it work over ssh either. No good.

Edit - got it working by updating Tailscale and found nextdns was blocking the initial connection.

Exit node doesn't appear to work out of the box. You have to go into the luci interface (http://192.168.8.1:8080/cgi-bin/luci/admin/network/firewall) and then check "Masquerading".
