Wondering if Tailscale works similarly to Wireguard where DNS provided by Tailscale will override the DNS provided by the ISP.
I have a Pihole running on my home network accessible via Tailscale, however, I need the travel router to use the ISP DNS until the Tailscale network is UP. For instance, I may need to login to a captive portal before the Tailnet can come up.
After the Tailnet is up, I would like the router to use my my private DNS (pihole) for my clients. I don't necessarily want to use Tailscale as an exit node all of the time. I have Tailscale installed and working, however, the DNS doesn't seem to override like with Wireguard. I've tried setting --accept-dns=true using tailscale CLI, but it doesn't seem to change the behavior.
I can set the DNS settings under Network > DNS to my pihole IP, however if I need to login to a captive portal in order to activate my travel router Internet, then my clients behind the router will not be able to complete the captive portal login.
Thoughts?
