I'm experimenting with the Comet on my DVR and streaming to my computer, a bit like the discontinued Slingbox used to do.
I'd like to use it whilst on holiday to access my library on my DVR I just need to figure out the infra-red remote control.
It is working great by the way, but does anybody know of a way of getting the IR controller to work.
It would be great if there was a usb plug in a bit like the fingerbot to relay IR signals but not come across anything myself yet.
I was thinking the same - not sure if the hdmi protection on pvrs will mess things up.
For the IR - one of these might work
Hello,
There are some USB IR blasters around, like the USB-UIRT (USB Universal Infrared Receiver Transmitter). It plugs into your PC and can both receive and transmit IR commands, and it has software support for sending IR signals to devices like DVRs.
You’d need software that lets you map buttons on your PC to IR signals.
You might need to build or find a software interface that can work remotely — like a web or mobile app that sends commands to your computer, which then triggers the IR blaster.
After a bit of research I'm going to go with a mobile controlled IR blaster hub. It might not be as joined up as I'd like but it should work to test whilst I'm away on holiday in a couple of weeks.
I've been streaming over my mobile signal on a Tailscale connection for a couple of hours to test it and the odd jitter but I do have it set to highest quality on a very bad signal.

This sounds like an awesome idea! I just need the Comet PoE to come out so that I can try this out myself.
