torrent listening port blocked on GL-XE3000

Hi. I've tried to utilise the small amount of technical knowledge I have but I haven't been able to get anywhere in the past 2 weeks so appreciate a beginner's guide.

so on my torrent application of choice (bitcomet/qtorrent on mac), the port is constantly being blocked (note UPNP is selected as active within the torrent application). I've tried changing the listening port to random ones and subsequently allocating on the port forwarding settings in the admin panel/luci, but I suspect I'm probably messing up somewhere.

FYI gl-xe3000 I'm on v4.0 (0704release5) firmware

Protocol should be: TCP/UDP right?
for my external/internal zone, I have WAN,guest,LAN. please recommend which one it should be (FYI: should all be default settings and I'm utilising a 5g sim card and a ethernet cable in the LAN port of the router to my mac)

please suggest suitable external/internal port. ( and kindly specify if it isn't overtly obvious the port forwarding value I should input into my torrent app)
Am I correct in understanding that for the internal IP address, it is simply the IP address of the device I want to torrent on (so my mac)

Also, is DMZ required to be active or any other settings/ plugins etc.

Many thanks for your help.

First:

Where is this torrent client located ?, on the router or as dhcp client?, if the torrent client is on the router the destination traffic must be the router, then nat translation aka portforwarding is no longer needed, a simple traffic rule will be better.

Second:

Are you using a vpn?, how sure are you these ports are not closed past the router ?

Third:
Dmz is not a good remedy, this means you open all ports to this device you gave up as ip to the internet, meaning it becomes vulnerable to hackers.

  1. If you are using cellular internet, you can't open ports mostly, due to CGNAT.
  2. UPNP does not exist on GL devices.
