Travel router new version MT3000?

Is there any plan for a new version of the MT3000 with WiFi 7 and a matte black finish with an rgb led ?

I haven’t ran into a lot of hotels or other similar places that have enough bandwidth available to need more than n150/300 speeds unfortunately.

Because you haven’t been to Japan

I have not been to Japan, so I will take your word for it that things are better there than the places I have gone.

You need an Ethernet to USB C then, not a router. Reason being, you want higher speeds. :+1:

I’m hoping the next travel router is siflower based, WiFI6 minimum on a well designed and integrated device.

The next Beryl needs to have 2 LAN ports, a single LAN port is a headache to me on the Beryl AX, as well as better coverage, maybe 4 antennas even though it would need a drastic design change, of course WiFi 7 or 6E at least, and maybe a SD-Card Slot. I think we will see a new Slate before a new Beryl.

You need a switch, it's $10-15 dollars on Amazon.

And wifi 7 is a wish. That will need a big fan.

Nah I have switches I just need another LAN port… the Beryl AX is a travel router but they also market it as a suitable router for small apartments so that’s even another reason.

Yeah I used it for both.

But if more ports are needed, I bought this cheap small switch, about the size of the router. I cut off the barrel adapter from the power supply and wired it to a type A USB, I can power it from my PC.

There are also 3-port Ethernet switches (sometimes sold as "splitters") which are powered by USB-C

I know this because I was just looking for one yesterday due to not having 1 more port on my Slate AX

Even 2 LAN ports aren’t enough sometimes😆 I also use vanillla OpenWrt on the Beryl AX and that’s why I wish it had another one too, but the main thing is range to be honest, they should add 4 external antennas or 2x external and 2x internal. It would be bigger of course

If it’s as big as the AXT1800 slate, for me its perfect. 4 antenna would be awesome

I agree, the Slate AX has a perfect size

Let’s hope they add 4 on the next release, 2x external and 2x internal would be perfect, since 4 external antennas don’t make sense on a travel router to be honest, I would love it though

I would also prefer detachable antenna’s and Din rail mount. Now I Neede to do this myself. I want to use router on a boat with external (outside) antenna’s.

I would really love to be able to use directional antennas for uplink

I had intentions to try this with USB dongles, but had to pause the project while waiting for many high-priority fixes in the mt76 driver to make it into the OpenWRT kernel.

Same, I used dd-wrt for a long time on multiple devices so I have some SMA antennas, having that option would be awesome
