Tried to opkg upgrade on my GL-750S

And, things went sour :-/ It upgraded the following packages:

gl-util - 3.0.3-1 - 3.0.7-1
gl-repeater - 3.0.2-1 - 3.0.3-1
gl-modem - 3.0.4-1 - 3.0.8-1
gl-wifi-core - 3.0.7-1 - 3.0.11-1
gl-base-files - 3.0.6-1 - 3.0.11-1
gl-ui - 3.0.6-1 - 3.0.9-1

And now I’m getting a 503 - Service Not Available. In the logs, I see

2018-09-12 20:58:54: (gw_backend.c.478) unlink /tmp/api.socket-0 after connect failed: Connection refused
2018-09-12 20:58:55: (gw_backend.c.331) child exited: 127 unix:/tmp/api.socket-0
2018-09-12 20:58:55: (gw_backend.c.478) unlink /tmp/api.socket-0 after connect failed: Connection refused
2018-09-12 20:58:55: (gw_backend.c.331) child exited: 127 unix:/tmp/api.socket-0
2018-09-12 20:58:55: (gw_backend.c.478) unlink /tmp/html.socket-0 after connect failed: Connection refused
2018-09-12 20:58:56: (gw_backend.c.331) child exited: 127 unix:/tmp/html.socket-0

Yes, I know this was a bad idea, but I was having some major issues related to the wifi repeater / DNS, and was hoping the upgrade would help. Any ideas what I can do other than a firmware reset? Can I find the old versions of those packages somewhere?

Thanks!

Update: I think it’s related to this error:

root@travel:/var/log/lighttpd# /usr/share/glweb1/bin/html
Error relocating /usr/share/glweb1/bin/html: wifi_set_scan: symbol not found

I’m guessing that this might be due to the upgrade of gl-wifi-core package ?

same thing happened to me, did a firmware reset eventually.

Hope this was a one time glitch, I would expect to be able to upgrade any packages that are available.

I guess I have to reset this thing too :-/. What’s the procedure? Boot while holding the reset button? Or boot first and then reset ?

boot and then press reset button for about 10 seconds

We will remove those ipks from repo. Not recommend upgrade those Ipks, as it may not the lastest one.

Cool, thanks. I did a reset, and resolved my issues, just a little bit annoying :). So far, I’m very impressed with the new firmware, and of course, the 750S is really a nice little box! Going to put it to the tests on my next trip (tomorrow :).

Thanks for your kind.

Fwiw, it worked stunningly on my first road trip! I do find it slightly annoying to add my NordVPN configurations one by one, but it is what it is.

For NordVPN configuration, you can choose some configuration files, then copy those files to a folder and re-zip it. I consider it could upload on UI If it less than 5MB.
