unable to access WebDAV https says access denied for GL.iNet

Hi

I trying to set up my GL.iNet GL-MT6000 running on 5.4.238 WebDAV

Tried different port numbers but got 403 - Forbidden

LAN SAMBA works seamlessly with no issues
tried changing HTTPS to HTTP and also changing to an Anonymous user from a normal user account

Changed router virtual IP (Using zero tier) and also asked for authentication once HTTPS is entered then 403 - Forbidden error

Tried in incognito and on different devices> Same issue

Read a few articles as below but had no luck with the same error

WebDAV Forbidden 404 - Technical Support for Routers - GL.iNet

I was in the impression that I could use it as COPY PASTE HTTPS but one said to instal client> If that's the case better use SAMBA but my org doesn't allow to mount drives (Group Policy)

Did anyone got the same issue? or a better way?

My intention is to use it as copy paste link. so can be shared and accessed from anywhere.

Thanks in Advance.

Hello,

the WebDAV only support the access with the client software/APP.

Lets see if others have some suggestions.

Hi

Do you know, If there is another option to set up similar to Google Drive but using http/s?

I don't have a static IP (I am not willing to get one wanna find other effective ways of setting it up)

Sorry, there is no similar feature of GoogleDrive.

Is there a public IP? If dynamic is also possible, just access the through GL DDNS.

If you do not have a public IP, you can consider using AstroWarp/Zerotier/Tailscale to build a remote network.

Hi Bruce

At present, I'm using Zero tier and used tail scale before as i don't have a public/static IP.

But i heard that WebDav can be accessed by Https?(no app needed)

WebDAV (Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning ) is a set of extensions to the [Hypertext Transfer Protocol]

WebDAV - Wikipedia

The WebDav of GL firmware supported HTTP/HTTPS access, but requires APP to connect the WebDav. If you require to access in browser, may install the third-party plugins to support this feature.

Hey Bruce, Thanks for the reply. Do you know any app to connect? Does apps like CX File Explorer work? Currently, I attach the path as a network drive and using Zero tier.

So if i do WebDav and install app> I don't need any VPN/Zerotier etc.. to view the external drive right?

Hello,

Please refer to

If your router does not have a public IP, it will not be accessible externally through the public IP.

A VPN/zerotier is needed, to create a virtual network to access the router WebDav resources.
