Updating OpenWrt on GL-X3000

Have a GL-X3000 running firmware 4.0 and noticed in LuCi that it is running OpenWrt version 21.02.
Here (LINK) OpenWrt shows the latest version for the GL-X3000 is 24.10.1.

Can OpenWrt be updated using one of those packages without wiping the GL.iNet GUI, or does it just update the LuCi section?
And would I use the SYSUPGRADE options since OpenWrt is already installed?

Hello,

X3000's GL firmware is developed based on the closed-source SDK.
Only the GL firmware own developed has the GL GUI.

X3000 has no plans for an open-source version (op24).

The firmware of Vanilla OpenWRT is not included in GL GUI.

OpenWRT version cannot be updated through those packages. Updating OpenWRT version requires compilation and flashing the firmware on router.

Thank you for the response!
Just to clarify, the only way OpenWRT can be upgraded from 21.02 to the latest 24.10.1 is if GL.iNet releases a new firmware update that includes the update for OpenWrt?

Hi,

Yes.
If you'd like to use the GL GUI, the only way is to use the firmware we released.

If not need GL GUI, you can flash vanilla openwrt.
