Have a GL-X3000 running firmware 4.0 and noticed in LuCi that it is running OpenWrt version 21.02.
Here (LINK) OpenWrt shows the latest version for the GL-X3000 is 24.10.1.
Can OpenWrt be updated using one of those packages without wiping the GL.iNet GUI, or does it just update the LuCi section?
And would I use the SYSUPGRADE options since OpenWrt is already installed?
Thank you for the response!
Just to clarify, the only way OpenWRT can be upgraded from 21.02 to the latest 24.10.1 is if GL.iNet releases a new firmware update that includes the update for OpenWrt?
.... It's an open-source derived product.
You have certain obligations that can be elided by making the software available for download.
Proprietary GUIs aren't interesting to this audience so this is a bit of a win-win for all involved if we all agree to follow the existing written legal licenses.
This is also the path to "white-board router" and volume sales.
We have customers paying >$2k per router that don't do as much as a XE-3000 w/ OpenWRT.
