I'm just going to note that cherry picking conf to re-upload isn't necessarily the right step. There have been cases in the past where the details within have changed between versions so the old conf in a backup, at best, won't do anything or at worse, boot loop the device.
dnsmasq on v4.8.x for Beryl AX & Flint v2 is the most recent example of drastic conf changes. I tend to check the firmware changelog to get a sense of what I may be faced with adjusting.
