Dears,
I’m trying to find, without luck, a supporter USB 4G modem (usb stick) for Beryl AX in Europe (Italy)
I’ve tried Huawei E3372h-153, but it’s not recognized (cd-rom partition mounted, etc…)
I’ve tried with some scripts for openwrt, but I wasn’t able to make it work.
The list of supported modems on this forum is very old and non maintened.
Can you suggest any supported modem? (Plug and play on router)
Recommend that Quectel series 4G modem with MiniPCIE to USB adapter or 5G modem with m.2 adapter. Or others USB dongle with related build-in Quectel modem.
Did you convenient to check the E3372 mdoem with us? It required to login the SSH and edit some file, is it possible to do with us?
I tried before getting a E3372 to work in modem mode, was a pain in the ... and eventually just threw it away. didnt get it work. it was always stuck at getting IP in DHCP and thats it. I replaced it with a 1&1 LTE stick W1209 for 15Eur from ebay and did this to make it work:
reboot with usb stick in usb port, check dmesg if it changed from cdrom mode to modem mode. now toggle usb modem on glinet front page tether on/off/on, should work now.
Easiest would be to buy a 2nd LTE router for 50Eur or so and put it on WAN port. I have zero idea, why Glinet is not having a cheaper 4g router in their portfolio around 50Eur. Other brands totally have these around, for example:
150Eur for the cheapest Glinet 4g router is a total joke, same as 550Eur for the 5g one. These prices are not competitive anymore in 2024.
Glinet need to bring out a small cheap 4g router in the style of Mango V2 with build in 4g modem around 50Eur, and a 5g router around 200Eur at max.
