A recently acquired USB modem is not recognised by the router (Creta) - that is to say, although the modem receives power and connects with the cell phone network (evidenced by the modem itself showing the signal strength bars and the operations LED has changed to the colour indicating logon status), the router's network interface page keeps showing something along the lines of "insert modem to start" and, also no WAN connection at the top of the page.
Unfortunately I have no information as to whether the modem uses a Qualcomm chip, a Huawei chip, or some other maker's chip, but I have confirmed that the modems works by plugging it into the computer.
Are there any additional packages that I could install in the LuCI that would allow the router to generally recognise more modems?
Thanks in advance for related information!
Hi @bruce Thanks for getting back to me.
- Yes
- Yes - here is what I get via ipconfig:
case 1: PC connected to the modem via modem WiFi
説明 Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168
缺省閘道 192.168.100.1
case 2: PC connected to the modem via USB port
説明 Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device
缺省閘道 192.168.42.129
In both cases I can use the internet OK as soon as ipconfig shows this information...
- I am not sure if it is really an RoHS modem, as written on the back cover - I did not find it on the RoHS website. But you can see it here:

The label pasted to the modem under the cover:
I hope this helps
Thanks!
@bruce I had wanted to attach excerpts of two log files, one the router booting without the modem plugged in, one the router booting with the modem plugged in, to show how the router and modem communicate, but it is not possible to attach text files - would you be able to give me an email address to send the log files to?
THanks
