USB on GL-SFT1200 stopped working entirely

I had used the USB port on my GL-SFT1200 a few times quite successfully. I used it to tether a Netgear M6 MiFi device as well as both an iPhone and an Android (Pixel 6 Pro). All three were fantastic. That was about 3 weeks ago though. I pulled everything out last weekend though for this RV trip.

Since then I had not been able to connect my Netgear to the router via USB. That drove me nuts for a while. I tried everything, reboots, updates, multiple cables, etc. Nothing worked.

Then I tried my iPhone. This absolutely worked previously too. Went through multiple cables. The iPhone didn't even recognize it being connected or charging. Just nothing on either device.

Then switched to the Android. Same deal. Nothing.

It seems like the USB port on this router is dead, and it's only a couple of months old.

Specifics:

  • Model: GL-SFT1200
  • Kernel: 4.14.90
  • OpenWrt 18.06
  • Network Acceleration: Currently disabled, but tried it both ways
  • Network Mode: Router
  • Multi-Wan: Load Balance
  • Firewall and VPN: Disabled

Is there anything else I can try or is this just doa?

I would agree that it looks like the USB port is dead.
Maybe you want to talk to support via support@glinet.biz so they can discuss the options with you?

For anyone else reading this, support suggested that I use the button on the side to reset the unit (holding it for 10 seconds). That worked. I had to reconfigure all the settings, but that only took a few minutes.
