I have a brand new router GL-AXT 1800 that I placed a USB-stick to for sharing music in local network.
Everything looks fine and I can play music from it. But after about 30 secounds the music stops
and the USB-stick disappears from the shared folder in router. I then takes out the USB from router and puts it back, then it works for a while but then again disappears.
I have tried another USB-stick with a small LED-lamp on. The LED lights up and then stops shining. Seems the power to USB-socket powers down.
The USB-sticks I have tried have been formated in NTFS.
Now I have bought new USB key and formated as ext4.
I first tried with Fat32 but the router did not find that at all. Then I formatted as ext4, but when that was done my laptop did not liked that and directly wanted to format it again. I could not do anything with it as ext4.
But seriously, does it have to be this complicated?
After formatting to ext4, it may be displayed as unavailable on Laptop. This is a problem with Windows OS. It is not compatible with ext4.
But the GL router (Linux OS) is compatible with ext4, and it is best format for Linux, so please insert the U-disk (ext4) to the GL router, and it can be automatically mounted by GL router.
And connect to the share folder of the router via the Samba/DLNA/Webdav on Windows, the U-disk can be read and write normal.
