Use external USB drive on GL-BE3600

I am currently trying to add an external USB drive to the USB port on my GL-BE3600. I am not that experienced with OpenWRT, but none of the guides seems to work. Many packages are not available.

What is the recommended way to mount an external drive?

Do you mean the GL GUI-based firmware or the underlying OpenWrt itself? The GL GUI NAS feature only supports FAT, exFAT, NTFS file systems.
